Availability:
Available at native plant nurseries in central Florida.
Description: Clump-forming grass 4-5 feet tall with thin green leaves. Flowering summer to fall with silvery-white inflorescences changing to tan or reddish brown with age.
Dimensions: Typically 4-5 feet in height.
Range:
Eastern and southern United States south to Brevard, Polk, and Manatee counties.

Habitats: Bogs, swamps, wet flatwoods, ditches.
Soils: Wet to moist, moderately well-drained to poorly-drained organic or sandy soils, often with acid pH.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate long-term flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Low; salt wind may burn the leaves.
Drought Tolerance: Low; requires moist to wet soils and is intolerant of long periods of drought.
Light Requirements: Full sun.
Flower Color: Silvery white changing to tan or reddish brown
Flower Characteristics: Showy.
Flowering Season: Summer-fall.
