Prairie Warbler

Description:
A small bird measuring up to 5 inches in length. Olive above, bright yellow below, with black spots and streaks along the sides. The male has chestnut streaks on back and the female and juvenile have fewer streaks.
Range:
Breeds in the southeastern United States and winters in southern florida,Central America, and the West Indies.
Distribution and Abundance in Florida:
Habitat(s):
Open scrub and mangrove swamps.
Reproduction:
4 brown-spotted white eggs are laid in a nest of grass and leaves placed low in a tree or a bush.
Natural History:
This species can be found bobbing its tail regularly. It forages for insects in low undergrow.
Food:
This species feeds on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates.

Can be found in South Florida year round.
