Description:
Wildflower 1-3 feet tall with narrow, bladed leaves. Violet flowers in a flat cluster.
Height:
Typically 1-3 feet in height.
Growth Rate:

Range:
Across the United States from Maine to Nevada south to Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Jackson counties.
Habitats:
Dry hammocks.
Soils:
Dry to moist, well-drained sandy or limestone soils, with humusy top layer.
Nutritional Requirements:
Moderate to high; grows best with some organic content and may languish in nutrient poor soils.
Salt Water Tolerance:
Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance:
Low; salt wind may burn the leaves.
Drought Tolerance:
Moderate to high; plants growing in extremely dry soils may die during extended periods of drought.
Light Requirements:
Full sun to light shade.
