Description:
	Perennial sedge with unbranched rhizomes with sharply triangular stems up to 3 feet tall.
Height:
	Typically 3 feet in height.
Growth Rate:
Range:
	Eastern coastal United States from to Texas, throughout coastal Florida. Also present in western California.
Habitats:
	Brackish to saline coastal marshes.
Soils:
	Wet to dry, well-drained to poorly drained sandy soils, without humus.
Nutritional Requirements:
	Low; it grows in nutrient poor soils.
Salt Water Tolerance:
	Moderate to high; tolerates brackish water or inundation by salt water.
Salt Wind Tolerance:
	Moderate; grows near salt water, but is protected from direct salt spray by other vegetation.
Drought Tolerance:
	Low; requires moist to wet soils and is intolerant of long periods of drought.
Light Requirements:
	Full sun.
