Recent Friends of IRC Events
Third Annual Friends of IRC Fundraising Party – October 2006
For the second year in a row the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center offered their facility for the event. Fomer IRC staffer Melissa Abdo hosted the party and talented musician Deblois provided entertainment throughout the evening. IRC Biologist Steven Green gave a talk about IRC’s pine rockland restoration work and Senior Biologist Steven Woodmansee led a walk through maritime hammock. A crowd of over 60 Friends of IRC members, friends and family attended and the auction, raffle and donations raised more than $2,000. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success!
IRC Luau Fundraiser – April 2006
Friends of IRC member Joy Klein generously offered her house for an IRC Luau fundraiser. Guests were “leighed” at the door and enjoyed an evening in Joy’s tiki-torch lit garden, sipping fruity rum drinks. We raised over $700! Special thanks to Joy for hosting this wonderful event!
Second Annual Friends of IRC Anniversary Bash – October 2005
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center graciously donated the venue for our second annual Friends of IRC fundraising event. New and old members joined IRC staff and board members for an evening of celebration. Aside from food and drinks, IRC Assistant Director Keith Bradley led a nature hike and IRC Biologist Steve Woodmansee gave a presentation on the native plants of The Big Cypress.
Community Outreach
IRC continues to hand out information on native plants, native plant gardening, and IRC programs at environmental events around Miami-Dade County. If you have a venue you would like us to be at or would like to help with a booth, contact us at friends@regionalconservation.org!
