Florida Keys History and Distribution: Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for open sandy areas and edges of hammocks on the island of Key West.  We consider this native and possibly extirpated in the lower Keys.  Last reported for the National Key Deer Refuge by Austin et al. (1980).
