Description:
Medium sized butterfly measuring up to 2 1/4" in length. The upperside is brown in color with a wide white band and a lower eyespot on forewing and upper eyespot on hindwing. The underside is brown.

North America, West Indies, Central America, South America
Distribution and Abundance in Florida:
Habitat(s):
Open lowlands including fields, brushlands, sandy islands.
Reproduction:
Eggs are laid on the host plants.

Food:
Caterpillars feed on leaves of host plants. Larval host plants include: Blue porterweed (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis).
